Travel Warning for Nationals of Certain Countries
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE January 26, 2017
As the former Regional Vice-chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association
(AILA), Attorney Shahzad Ahmed with NeJame Law has received a copy of
the leaked proposed Executive Order (EO) from President Trump, entitled,
Protecting the Nation from Terrorist Attacks by Foreign Nationals.
(This proposed EO has not yet been signed.)
If this EO goes into effect, then there would be a 30-day moratorium placed against immigrants and non-immigrants traveling from the following countries: Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Iran. Additional countries may be included.
Accordingly, if you fall into any of these categories and are in the United States, then it is recommended that you do not travel abroad right now, since it is possible that the President will implement this EO, and thus complicate your re-entry. If you fall into any of these categories and you are currently abroad, you should consider returning to the United States as soon as possible before the EO goes into effect.
Since each case varies, please consult with an experienced immigration attorney about your own particular case.
Shahzad Ahmed, Esq.
