Daniel Saylor Pleads not Guilty to New Charges

WINDERMERE -- No trial date has been set in the case against former Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor.

On Friday, Saylor's attorney Mark NeJame told an Orange County judge that he is still sifting through a mountain of discovery in the case.

Just this week, Saylor was charged with six new felony charges in his case. NeJame plead not guilty on behalf of his client who was not present.

Prosecutors said Saylor took a $1,000 bribe from one of his officers, in exchange for hiring one of that officer's friends.

There are also reports that Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigators found guns and drugs missing from the police department while Saylor was the chief.

Saylor was first arrested in January, after he was accused of trying to cover-up a sexual battery investigation that targeted his friend.

FDLE said Saylor tried to get one of his officers to destroy documents and lie to investigators, by offering him time off and better hours.

The judge set a June 10 status hearing date for Saylor's case.
